Hyde-Stone strides for a commitment to excellence in the design and installation of heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and temperature control systems. History
Hyde-Stone Mechanical Contractors, Inc. started in 1893 when two brothers, George and Charles Hyde, had a vision of starting a heating and plumbing company that would service the North Country. They started in a small building in Watertown as a heating and plumbing supply house and a mechanical contractor. In the beginning Hyde-Stone they had to service and repair anything that their customers needed done from car fenders to boilers to boats.

In the early 1970’sCharles R. Hyde, grandson of one of the founders, took over the mechanical contracting aspect of the business. At this time there was only one office and it specialized in installing and servicing heating, plumbing, and air conditioning equipment.

In 1979 Jay F. Stone joined the business as a partner. Six years later Charles R. Hyde retired from the company and Jay Stone took over and continued to strengthen the company with his hard work. The company has always had a reputation for excellent work both in the service of equipment and the installation of systems.

Hyde-Stone Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is now comprised of three offices throughout the North Country. The Watertown office is the main office with two other offices located in Potsdam and Plattsburgh, NY.

The company handles a wide range of jobs from small plumbing and heating repairs to building renovations as well as industrial design/build and plan/spec projects.
